MentalPraxis is directed by Dr. Chris Goto-Jones, certified Philosophical Counsellor. Educated in Cambridge, Keio (Tokyo), and Oxford Universities, Chris is Professor in Philosophy at the University of Victoria, Canada. He is also a Professorial Research Fellow at SOAS, University of London, and an Honorary Professor in Asian Studies at the University of British Columbia. He was previously Professor of Comparative Philosophy & Political Thought and Professor of Modern Japan Studies at Leiden University (The Netherlands). Chris is an experienced meditation teacher (trained in Zen, Insight, and Daoist traditions), mindfulness coach (certified in MBCT and MBSR), registered Counselling Hypnotherapist, and qualified martial arts instructor. He is terrible at Street Fighter. He is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society, a member of the Canadian Philosophical Association, the Canadian Psychological Association, the Society for Existential Analysis, and the International Society for Hypnosis.
