zombie mindfulness

One of the lesser studied aspects of the rise (and rise) of mindfulness as a social movement
is the question of its ethical and political impact on society.
If we could achieve the much-lauded 'mindful society,' would you really want to live in it?

Zombie Apocalypse as Mindfulness Manifesto

An icon of horror, the zombie blunders with apparent mindlessness, bringing only contagion and chaos.  It has lost its ego, its individuality, its reasoning self.  It is a repellent vision of posthumanity.
Mindfulness is a therapeutic practice rooted in the meditative traditions of Buddhism.  Liberated from the stresses and anxieties of capitalist society, practitioners escape the demands of an ego driven to exhaustion by instrumental rationality.
This project (which was conceptualized and developed by Chris Goto-Jones and illustrated by Ricardo Bessa) is a playful exploration of the growing interest in mindfulness meditation and flourishing portrayals of the zombie apocalypse in contemporary societies.  Is there a connection between these models of (post)selfhood?  What is the connection between mindfulness and mindlessness?
